Out with the club again, not as many of us today as a few had turned roadies for the day at an event up near lake bala.
Today it was the The beast. We had already done part of this trail when we done the MBR trail but that made things even more fun as we knew what was coming on some off the down hills and could really get some speed up so fast at one point that 2 of us missed the turning for the beast nothing too major though we just got a loverly little techy climb todo toget back on the trail.
The second part of the beast is the dragons back trail.
I had a couple of scary moments on the decent before the cafe stopa came down the trail a bit quick and it was really cut up and full of roots there was just no way I could risk touching the brakes so it was just hang on and hope and just gap the gnarly bits of trail.
The cafe stop was next , cheese n pickle sandwich crisps and a scone with cream and jam yummmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !
We could of taken a short on the next bit of trail but the weather was so nice we done the fireroad loop to take in the senary.
Once the climb was out of the way there was scary speed decent down some fireroad before getting to the bit of singletrack called "gomez" all I can say is Wow really techy loads of steps (one point I thought I was on a foot path there were that many steps).
I have to admit I didn't like the look of one bit of trail at all wet, rooty, rocky, muddy and steep with a 90 degree turn into it, I walked it!
I rode the rest of the family, mortica, lurch, pugsy without any problems.

Fantastic day
